The Gundam series is a science fiction media franchise created by Sunrise, featuring giant robots with the name of Gundam. The series started airing in April 1979. Most of the gundam series stories are set in the future.

The Gundam series started airing in April 1979, and was set in a fictional universe in the year 2179, where the mobile suits, which are technically a new type of humanoid weapons are used in battles. The main character, Amuro Ray accidentally found the RX-78 unit, which was the Federation’s new prototype as he was escaping from the attack by the Zeon reconnaissance team. Hence Amuro Ray piloted this unit to survive together with the White Base.
Gundam Seed
One of the most popular Gundam shows in the Gundam franchise, and I am definitely sure that most anime fans would know this series as this series was one of the popular series that made everyone interested in the franchise.

1. Zaku
The most prominent gundam figure in all gundam franchise, because the Zaku have appeared in most series, and is normally a disposable underling in the animation itself. Most people see the Zaku figure would definitely know that it is from the Gundam series. Recently, the Zaku is getting popular among fans, starting from the major appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam: The origin, where one of characters, Char Aznable piloted the Zaku.
2. Freedom!
One of the most prominent gunpla in the Gundam franchise, and this was very popular at the end of the Gundam Seed series, and it also appeared in the sequel, Gundam Seed Destiny. Personally I like this gunpla a lot not because the main character Kira Yamato is piloting it, but was due to the aura it emitted during the show, and also the color used to paint the gunpla.
3. Gundam RX78
The very first gundam in the gundam franchise, and though it looks very simple as compared to other gundam in the series, this was said to be the origin of all gundam.
