When it comes to finding the finest Skincare and makeup, it’s no doubt that Japanese products are praised for their reliability and quality. Aside from the internationally praised Shiseido, Japan has so many others interesting cosmetic companies, and each company owns loads of high end brands. We picked up for you what we think as today’s most appealing brands.
SK-II
In expansion to the West, SK-II is the most famous and popular brand for anti-aging products. SK-II is also famous for promoting women’ rights in Asia, notably with the #changedestiny project, opening the dialogue for the so called leftover women in mainland China and recently with the #bareskinproject starring hollywood prodige Chloe Grace Moretz.
SK-II products have immediate and visible effects on your skin, starting the day you use them, and leave your skin incredibly smooth and radiant. SK-II products are also the best beauty weapons against dullness.
After that, we are not surprised to know that the brands won a tremendous amount of beauty awards!
Albion
Established soon after the WWII, Albion- which means ‘white land’ in Japanese, is known for creating emulsion formulas as well as oil in water hydrophilic milk, two formulas used by all cosmetics brands today.
Albion is currently one of the preferred luxury brands across Asia. Now available in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Malaysia, Albion has recently achieved a strong growth. Albion is famous for its Skin care which fosters skin metabolism and regulate cell refining and clarifying the skin.
Shu uemura
Founded by the wonderful and renowned make-up artist Shu Uemura who launched one of the first cleansing oil back in the 1960’s, the brand is now part of the l’Oreal family, the biggest cosmetic group in terms of beauty sales.
Shu Uemura products are famous for their funky and eclectic packaging and colorful shades, while still accentuating on a classy touch. The quality of the ingredients used is undeniably worthy and leave the skin beautifully clean and smooth. For Shu Uemura, `beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin’ and developed the idea that make-up is, in addition to being a tool for enhancement, is essentially Art. And we absolutely agree!
Clé de peau Beauté
Borrowed from French to explain the Key to beautiful skin, Clé de Peau is another high end beauty brand that belongs to the Shiseido group. The brand is said to be “a luxury brand that uniquely combines Japan’s cutting-edge science and aesthetics with modern French elegance”. Clé de peau is especially popular among artists and celebrities and is praised for the quality and effectiveness of its products. I personally strongly recommend their concealer, a real treasure! If you are looking for a touch of elegance and refiness, no wonder that you will adore Clé de Peau.
Koh Gen Do
Founded in 1986 by Japanese actress Ai Saotome, Koh Gen Do is known for the quality of their radiant and lightweight foundations that replaced heavy and unnatural makeup bases. Ai Saotome first created the moisture foundation, which became a must for most Japanese make-up fashionistas. Shortly after, the Aqua Foundation came along, and is now a best seller in Japan. Both foundations are inspired by traditional botanicals and homeopathy. The foundation remains intact even after hours of use. In addition, most Koh Gen Do products are alcohol-free and fragrance-free and are notably designed for the driest skins.
The brand has now blossomed into a modern and luxurious skin care series. And on top of that, the brand is 100% eco-friendly!
