I’m sure that most people would be familiar with Tomica Cars, especially the current collaboration of Tomica Cars with Disney’s Tsum Tsum series. Tomica is a line of die-cast to vehicles produced in 1970 by Takara Tomy Co. of Japan.

History of Tomica
In the past, Tomica only produced Japanese brand cars and trucks in 1970, and since then the line had grew to up to 109 models by 1978. This variety of models expanded to taxis, buses and even steam engines and ocean liners. However, in order to compete in the global toy market, the products were exported to Canada and USA where the products are designed like a pair of denim jeans.
Reasons Why it was so Popular
One of the reasons as to why it became popular worldwide is because the toy cars were mainly Japanese cars that were not seen overseas, and their values were more higher as compared to other competitors such as Hot Wheels and Matchboxes. Furthermore, there are exclusive limited models in the market which makes one want to collect!

Most people would definitely want to buy the limited edition cars because it has so much value as compared to the normal tomica cars. Furthermore, older models are already obsoleted in the market, which makes it even more previous. One of the current limited edition Tomica Car has to be the Disneyland’s 35th anniversary resort line, which is one of the transportation within Disney Resort in Japan.
2. Let’s Tsum Tsum with Tomica Cars
Tsum Tsum is a range of Japanese collectible stuffed toys based upon Disney and Pixar characters, and its original meaning means “to stack””. Tsum Tsum and Tomica cars has a collaboration, where cars are designed to look like the tsum tsum characters, and this is very well-loved and received not only by the children, but also the adults.
3. Tomica Limited Vintage
This series is created more towards to the collectors, who love to collect vintage cars, as they started to produce more realistic models. In 2006, the Tomica Limited Vintage – Nep was created, and the focus was more on the adult collectors as these models have a high level of realism with more attention to the details such as wheels, tires, paint, trim and emblems.
