The song ‘Yuki no Hana’ is well-known across Japan, and the singer of that song, Mika Nakajima, is also from Kagoshima! She was raised in Kagoshima until she graduated junior high school, and then decided to move to Hukuoka to pursue her dreams of a modeling and singing career! Although ‘Princess Mononoke’ not a person who actually exists, it is said that the models for the mystical forests featured in the Studio Ghibli movie that bears the same name are the forests of the island of Yakushima, in Kagoshima Prefecture. The Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine is a nature park in Yakushima where you can see these same forests for yourself!
