Beyblades are popular in Japan not only because they are fun to play with, but most importantly because of its successful anime adaptations. At its peak, Beyblades were sold out in stores all over Japan, and there were (and still are) annual championships many Beybladers participate in that decides the strongest Beyblader in the country.
What are Beyblades?
Beyblades. What a classic. Beyblades, first released in the year of 1999 by Takara Tomy, are spinning metal toy tops based on “Beigoma”: the traditional Japanese spinning top. When people “Beyblade” (a verb), players take a Beyblade each and commence a duel between their tops. To play the game, each player places their top in a custom launcher that ejects the tops with a very fast spin. The duel ends when there is only one top spinning, in the stadium, or intact. Although the game is typically played with two players, this can change if the players play in bigger “stadiums”.

The Valkyrie
The Beyblade anime is now in its fourth series, and the Valkyrie is the Beyblade used by its fourth main character. In the game, the Beyblades are classified into four different types: attack, defense, stamina, and balanced. Like other Beyblades used by other main characters, the Valkyrie is an attack type Beyblade that possesses the power to knock players out of the stadium or even make them “burst”. The Spriggan
The Spriggan is the Beyblade used by the rival of the main character in its anime adaptation. The Spriggan is a balance type and is branded as the “perfect Beyblade” with no weaknesses. The Spriggan is popular due to it being the strongest Beyblade in the anime adaptation.
