History of TOGA VIRILIS
TOGA is a fashion brand launched in Japan in 1997 by designer Ms. Yasuko Furuta. The founder and designer, Ms. Yasuko Furuta, studied fashion design and patterns at Esmod Japon, a vocational school that fosters excellent designers, and in Esmod Paris, a main school in Paris, France with a history of over 180 years in the field of fashion and design. After that, Ms. Furuta returned to Japan and established her own brand. The base of her business was established in Tokyo, Japan, but in 2005 she moved to Paris. In 2014, she expanded her activities to London, England, where she is currently participating in the London Collections. Ms. Furuta has received numerous awards for her works in fashion, both in Japan and abroad, and is still an active designer up-to-date. Since its commencement, TOGA has attracted attention for its eccentric designs that incorporate foreign culture and the individuality of the designer at the forefront. Even though it is known as a Japanese brand, the designs that do not look Japanese-inspired have caught the attention of many fashion lovers.
TOGA has various lines. In 2011, she launched TOGA’s men’s line, TOGA VIRILIS, which kicked off in Paris in 2013 and in London the following year. It is now recognized as a unique men’s line brand not only in Japan but also worldwide.
