History of RESOLUTE
RESOLUTE is a relatively new brand launched in 2010 by Yoshiyuki Hayashi, who has made a name as a designer for over 2 decades in the Japanese denim industry. As a child, he admired imported Levi’s from the U.S., and right off the bat wanted to explore the world of denim production himself. Its history dates back in 1988 when he took part in the debut of the denim brand “Denime” as a designer, which then established a new era of Japanese domestic denim and triggered a boom in Japanese replica jeans. Mr. Hayashi, who has never stopped loving denim, once said “denim is not clothing, but a tool, and I want to create an ideal standard that people can keep for years to come.” In 2010, he set out to introduce a new denim brand “RESOLUTE” living out this principle. RESOLUTE’s denim is 100% made in Japan, with all processes from weaving, dyeing, sewing, and finishing done in the Chugoku region of the country. In 2013, Mr. Hayashi also made into public a project called “Onomichi Denim Project” to make known to the world Japanese technology and craftsmanship. RESOLUTE, which incorporates high technology and persistence can be regarded as the pinnacle of Mr. Yoshiyuki Hayashi, who has been indispensable in breathing life to the history of denim in Japan. He has been recognized not only in Japan but even across the world, with 90 stores in Japan and about 20 stores overseas including those in Hong Kong, Korea, and the United States.
